Animation with music composed for the piece by Michael Nyman - Before cancer forced his retirement, Dermot Martin was a senior manager at the Royal Mail in England. Just prior to his death Dermot went to Dublin with Michael Nyman to honor his Uncle Tom, who took part in the legendary Easter Rising against the British. Nyman’s music sets the tone for both Dermot’s personal quest and an elegiac animation of his photographs taken in Dublin's General Post Office where the uprising took place.

This piece references a seminal video work made in 1973 by performance artist Vito Acconci. In it, Acconci paces the length of a corridor, talking to an absent ex-lover. Director Robin Mahoney, worked closely with artists Ian Forsyth and Jane Pollard, to update and re-shoot the video. Liberally adopting the style and aesthetic of contemporary urban music videos the original performer is replaced by Plan B (679 Recordings), a sharp-tongued young MC.

Title: Walk With Nauman (Re-Performance Corridor)

This video re-works Bruce Nauman's Performance Corridor and his related video, Walk with Contrapposto (both 1968). Exhibiting at London's Jerwood Gallery the corridor is built to the same dimensions as Nauman's. Aritsts Ian Forsyth and Jane Pollard, again working with Mensch reframed the original reference using the techniques and visual language of contemporary R&B music videos, casting a professional dancer, Nikki Trow, in the role of Nauman.

Feature film re-working / original music compositon - As part of the ITV 1 series Mixmasters we were commissioned to remix and add our own music to the classic spy thriller, starring Audrey Hepburn and Cary Grant. The piece then went onto premier at the Raindance Film Festival and has since been in shows at London’s Institute of Contemporary Art, The National Film Theatre, Pompidou Centre and at numerous events worldwide. It has been hailed as one of the definitive film-remixes.

FUSM takes an infamous video documenting a live performance by The Cramps for the patients at Napa Mental Institute, California, on 13th June 1978 as the original source to remake. This unique social document, captured in blurred and grainy black and white has been swapping hands at record fairs and via the internet since the early eighties.The resulting footage was re-staged at London's I.C.A., then edited and degraded to meticulously re-create the content, spirit and damaged aesthetic of the original.
